An astonishing alternate history that explores what may have happened had the Khazar realm lasted up to World War II. But this book is more than a chain of "what if"s - it investigates into what it means to be gendered (as Esther envisions she cannot lead her nation's forces if she cannot be changed into a man), what it means to be divine (as her subsequent army is made up of the divine, the sacrilegious, and the non-believers in a international jewish empire), and even what it means even to be alive (the characters are human, mechanical, and animated clay). So is this a Jewish folk tale, or science fiction? Possibly a little of both, a real page-turner, you must read it and decide for your-self. Thank you Blogging For Books for sending me this free book to read and review.
